“People of Faith”? What do you mean, Joey?

By people of faith, we mean those who walk the walk of Genesis’s Abraham and, by reasonable extension, the walk behind Jesus. “People of faith” centers on folks reading the Bible for timeless — even divine — wisdom.

But we aren’t looking for detailed rules from biblical texts to tell us what to do with our money. We’re looking for structures of consciousness arising from the stories and prayers and parables, from the histories and epistles and apocalypses.

Structures of consciousness: Giving is first.

Structures of consciousness: There are enslaved persons, and there are free(d) persons.

Structures of consciousness: Give more than you think you can (and you’ll be wealthier than you thought you might have become).

Structures of consciousness: Some are lazy, some diligent.

Structures of consciousness: There is a wise way, there is a foolish way.

Structures of consciousness: It is possible to steward assets toward increase, and to waste resources in stagnation.

Biblical texts yield fields of theological meaning — The earth is the Lord’s — and people of faith seek to reflect and act on its work now — What is the highest and best use of God’s property which is mine and my life to steward?
