Process & Fees

How do we discover if we’re a good fit?

We follow these four steps:

  • A 30-minute in-person conversation so we can determine if we could be a potential fit. We aren’t the right firm for everyone and if things don’t work with us we will happily refer you elsewhere that may be a better fit for your needs.

  • We will follow-up with you to summarize how we can help you, recommending the appropriate areas on our 5-step plan to focus on first.

  • Are you ready to put in the work to improve your financial life? Here are some questions you can ask yourselves:

    • Do we feel heard and understood by Joey?

    • Does Joey seem trustworthy, professional, empathetic, and likable?

    • Do we believe that Freedom Quest can help solve our financial problems?

    • Do we believe that investing in this relationship will improve the likelihood of us living the kind of life we want to live?

  • If you decide to hire us after sleeping on it, then you give us a quick call to say, “Let’s do this!”

    We are lucky to be working with you! The next thing we do is schedule your first in-person planning session, where we’ll begin the beautiful journey of discovering your highest ideals and helping you flourish in freedom.

Question: What do we do after we’ve confirmed that we want to work together?

Answer: 4 Core Meetings + 4 Core Documents

Meeting #1 as Client & Advisor!

60—90 minutes. We do three things:

  1. Get organized with our One Page Plan and Mantras of Timeless Money Wisdom.

  2. Get oriented to Freedom Quest’s ethos with our Client Engagement Standards.

  3. Get going on your first step with a small goal for you to achieve in the next week.

Meeting #2 (One Week Later)

60 minutes, one week after our first meeting. We do three things:

  1. Debrief on the small goal we set for you to achieve at our first session.

  2. Develop a philosophy of investing with our Investment Philosophy Statement.

  3. Identify your next 1—3 steps for you to achieve over the next month until we meet again.

Meeting #3 (One Month Later)

60 minutes, one month later. We do three things:

  1. Review our 4 core documents:

    • Client Engagement Standards

    • One Page Plan

    • Mantras of Timeless Money Wisdom

    • Investment Philosophy Statement

  2. Debrief on your previous goals.

  3. Set your next 1—3 goals, to be achieved over the next 3—6 months.

Meeting #4 (3—6 Months Later)

At this point you are well on your way to freedom! Your household is stable. You have a good idea of where you’re going and how to get there. You have hope!

Our fourth meeting (one hour) is the last introductory meeting. We sit down to review your previous goals, celebrate how far you’ve come since engaging with me, and then identify the next steps to take before our annual meeting.

After our 4 introductory meetings together, we settle into a rhythm that looks like this:

  • We meet annually to review your goals, your plan, and your portfolio, regardless of your circumstances.

  • You call me whenever you need me. I call you whenever I have news to share.

  • We meet between regular annual sessions when your goals change or you experience life-altering circumstances.

  • You encourage others on their own freedom quest by attending Freedom Quest seminars, taking our classes with family and friends, and introducing those in need to our work.

What does it cost?

“Fee-Only”: the What & the Why

Freedom Quest is an independent registered investment advisory (RIA), and I (Joey) am an independent financial advisor. We are fee-only, which means that the only way I earn money is directly from my clients.

I sell neither insurance nor so-called “investment products” for commission. And I do not work for a big bank or brokerage house. I only sell investment management and financial planning directly to my clients.

Here’s the point: I only work for you. I only make money when you achieve your goals. I only build wealth when you build wealth. The beauty of this fee model is that philosophically and financially your interests and my interests are 100% aligned.

Fees

  1. Investment Management: You pay a percentage of the assets we’re helping you manage, up to 1%.

  2. Comprehensive Financial Planning: You pay an hourly rate, up to $300 per hour.
